Random Life Stuff and One Card, Two Ways!

Hi Everyone...if you read my blog yesterday, you know that my anniversary was Friday.  We celebrated 16 years and I had made reservations at one of our favorite local restaurants and got movie tickets.  The sitter was lined up...all was well, until my husband called me to tell me he had been in a car accident.  He was at a stop light and someone rear ended him.  Fortunately neither my husband, nor the other driver were injured.  My husband's truck has some damage, but it was drivable.  The other driver's car was in pretty bad shape--it was a compact car and didn't fare too well against my husband's large pick up truck.  I'm just so very, very grateful everyone stayed safe.  Needless to say, it made us change our plans and we celebrated with take out and a rental movie at home instead.  We'll take a rain check on our "nice" night out....we still have good reason to celebrate our 16th anniversary, even if it is late!

In other news...I got new glasses this week!  My prescription didn't change much, but my old pairs (yes, I had two) were very worn out.  One of the pairs had a screw that would not stay tightened and my main pair were quite scratched up.  It was time....I'm a fan of Lenscrafters and their customer service, so I headed there for my appointment.  I picked out a nice pair of glasses--I tend to wear fairly "bold" designs, and I really like what I found.  I will post a photo at some point, but not today...  But, while I was having my exam....I have to tell you, I had a rude awakening.  You see,  later this year I will celebrate one of the "BIG" birthday milestones.  And I'm not one bit thrilled about it.

I prefer to stay "29".  I've been 29 for a long time....but I obviously was not married at 13, so you can figure out for yourself that the 29 thing is a bit of a farce.  The eye doc appeared to be about 18 (ha!) and as he was doing the eye exam asked me if I have to hold books far away to read (I don't).  He asked this more than once and referred to "my age" several times. Now mind you...the entire exam we're talking about biking and running and other pretty active things, so I had no clue that just how OLD he really thought I was.  Then he mentioned the "B" word.  Yep, bifocals!  He told me that I would probably be lucky and get by another 2 or 3 years of not needing them because my prescription would offset the effects of the aging process.  It was all I could do not to hit him with my purse--old lady style.  Twit.   Actually he was quite lovely, professional and was simply doing his job.  The reality of it is that I don't like to admit that I'm in that lovely category as "middle aged".  I feel young, I hope to heck I look young in my sporty new specs, but I sure as Hades don't like to be verbally reminded just how OLD I am going to be.  Screw that nonsense.

Anyway....I have two adorable cards to share today.  I have to say, this stamp set that I used is a MUST HAVE for anyone who is a card maker.  The pennants are adorable, flexible, the perfect size and are just so stinkin' cute!   Check out my cards:

First in pink.

Next in grey.

The stamp set I used is Tiny Build A Banner by SP&Company.  It's so cute!  And the size is perfect for making about any word you can think of.  And look at those bitty bows that you can add to the ends of the strings.  Like I said...so stinkin' cute!  I made these cards one night when I was on a mission to blow through some 6 by 6 paper pads.  I haven't totally knocked any more out, but I'm getting close!

Oh...and before I go, I'd like to wish my sister a very happy birthday.  She's "29" also. *wink*

That's all I have for you today.  I hope you have a super day!

LOL Sonya! Great post. Just put your glasses to the end of your nose then you won't need bifocals for a few more years! That's what I do LOL! Great card. TFS

LOL Sonya!
I've been 29 for about 15 years! I've started wearing readers recently because I can't see up close anymore. Oh well, I still feel 18 on the inside! G;ad your hubby's OK: car accidents are the worst! Cute cards too! I'm gonna check out that stamp set!

Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Don't feel bad about the glasses thing. I knew it was time when I couldn't thread a needle without squinting and that was two years before turning 40 on this past Tuesday. Age is relative. If you act young anD feel young then you are young
